Music, learning and AI

I always thought that music is severely underutilized in learning, seems like after using it to learn our ABCs we quickly forget how unreasonably effective songs are at making things stick in your head, ask someone to memorize an essay and they would probably think that's too difficult, and yet they probably have an encyclopedia's worth of lyrics in their heads that they memorized without even trying. 

There is a youtube niche for educational songs (shoutout to asapSCIENCE) but the trouble with that is the quality of the songs vary a lot and the topics are restricted, you may not necessarily like the genre so it may not sound as catchy to you or you may not even be keen to spend time listening to it to allow for that passive memorization of the lyrics (and with a little bit of mental effort the memorization of the actual concepts).

IN COMES AI, it took me all of 5 minutes to generate a song using lyrics  generated by an LLM, and I must say, I am mind-blown by how far AI music generation has progressed, the vocals, the instruments, the composition, the timing, ... it's all perfect now and extremely accessible, practically indistinguishable from authentic music though unavoidably extremely formulaic, but formulaic is good for memorization, formulaic is catchy.
Because musicality is secondary, AI generated music for learning purposes also feels less guilt-ridden since it's not actually replacing any musicians (not many rock bands making educational songs) and its lack of musical originality and nuance is, for this use-case, a feature since your brain is not trying to process odd time signatures and fancy scales and genius wacky compositions that only a human can produce, it has a better time focusing on the lyrics. In this case, music acts like a sort of knowledge pill, you don't really care about the capsule as long as it doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth and delivers the contents smoothly straight to the hippocampus. 

Anyway, this is all to say that I made (a word with a muddied meaning now) two test AI songs about   measure in Integrated information theory and attention in machine learning, and they're both bangers. Enjoy!
